Join Adam Nathaniel Furman, editor of the recent book, Queer Spaces: An Atlas of LGBTQIA+ Places & Stories (2022), to hear about their career as a queer British Argentine-Japanese artist, academic, and designer. Adam will share insights into how they carved a queer path through the heteronormative conventions of architectural practice and what the future holds for queer spaces around the world.
Trained in architecture and based in London, Adam’s atelier works in spatial design and art of all scales from videos and prints to large public artworks, architecturally integrated ornament, as well as products, furniture, interiors, publishing, and academia.

Break out of the cold and join AIA Chicago’s LGBTQIA+ Alliance at our Chicago office rooftop prairie. This Spring Social will feature a local non-profit organization that lifts voices of the trans community as well as other community members as we prepare and plan for Pride festivities in June. Beverages and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Special performances by Chamilla Foxx, Tenderoni, and Tiki Vonte!
Across our offices, we came together as a Studio to screen the urgent and essential documentary Coextinction.
Coextinction follows filmmakers Gloria Pancrazi and Elena Jean as they expose what it will take to save the last 73 Southern Resident orcas from extinction. Ultimately, their findings reveal how the orcas’ endangerment is tied to several factors including the collapse of wild salmon populations, increasing noise pollution from container ships and small crafts, and centuries of injustice against Indigenous peoples. It’s a story about coextinction.
We were honored to be joined for a post-screening Q&A with Coextinction co-director Gloria Pancrazi. Learn more and discover where you can watch Coextinction.
